What happens next? – transcript

Every weekend there was one job that Hemi hated doing: mowing the lawns. He'd much rather be building his latest robot invention in the shed.

That was it! What if Hemi could build a robot to mow the lawns?

Hemi's Dad had told him the lawn had to be mowed this weekend or he wouldn't get any pocket money, and Hemi was broke.

Hemi believed there had to be a better way to mow the lawn. He finds a pair of old scissors, a blender, Dad's nose hair trimmer, a set of steak knives, a laser pointer, old guitar strings to tie them all together, and an old computer.

“I'm gonna make my own robot lawnmower!”

Hemi stayed up all night constructing his robot.

“He's alive! Um, hang on, false alarm. Maybe not quite alive yet.”

It was going to be a long night.

In the morning, Hemi pushes his mystery machine into the backyard.

"Start mower. Send.”

“Ah, this is the life.”

Hemi is so happy and relaxed. He falls asleep to the drone of the mower, only to be woken by a distant crowd yelling, and his robot mower is nowhere to be seen.

What has his robot lawnmower done?
