John Schwalger transcript

Hello, my name is John Schwalger. I'm a professional rugby player for the Hurricanes, and we're here at our training base in Wellington.

Just one reason why writing is so important. Just because I'm an older kid, I can call myself a kid, like I still have homework just like you guys. Our coaches give us a plan and everything for the week, so if we don't know how to write then we'll struggle to remember everything and to know what we are going to do. So that's why writing is so important.

There's one book I remember when I was little, just a storyline. And I always wanted to write my own storyline and make up my own superheroes and villains, and stuff like that.

So it's good for you because you can make up your own stories. It doesn't matter how bad or good it is. It's your story. So if you know how to write then it'll be easy. Easiest way to enjoy your stuff as well.

Here we go.

“A tribe of smelly, earthy, wormy monsters want to include the rugby field to their territory. But the field they want belongs to the number one team in the world, and it's been theirs for over 125 years. But the team needs to train on it for good luck before the biggest match of their careers. But it's a tradition as well.

So the mighty captain challenges the smelly, earthy monsters' King to a one-on-one duel for supremacy, and also putting all land territory up for grabs, and the winner takes all.”
