Introduction by Bret – transcript

I'm Brett McKenzie. I work in music, TV, and film. I write songs, I write stories, and scripts. You might know me from Flight of the Conchords, Feel Inside (and stuff like that).

Working in TV and film, one of the great things is getting to write down these ideas that show up in your head at random times. You know, it might be an exploding biscuit monster, or a furious cloud dragon.

Whatever it is you have this little idea and then write it down, and this unfolds and turns into a complete world or an idea, and I get paid to do that. It's really, it's a dream job.

When I was a boy, I loved watching TV. I loved watching the Muppets and all those shows. Jim Henson shows.

And I really loved reading Roald Dahl stories. The BFG, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, TheTwits. Really great stories, really funny, and slightly dark. Yeah, Danny the Champion of the World. Those were my favourite books and I still read them now ‚ I love them.
