Text on screen: Dr Jenny Poskitt | Education consultant.

[Scenes alternate between Dr Poskitt talking to the camera and classroom scenes].

Dr Poskitt: What I've seen the students do today is building on each other’s ideas but working out who's got particular talents or skills – recognising that and giving that person a little bit more leadership in it. Making sure everybody helps and contributes and does shared labour, if you like, and time and effort and that's important to kids - about being fair and just.

[Student speaks to camera].

Student: I feel I have the ideas, and I come up with them. But sometimes I don't put them into practice, and I think this program is helping me to put them into practice.

[Classroom scenes].

Dr Poskitt (voice): But in that, they are all contributing, and in fact by combining their ideas they've come up with a great story that they couldn't have done on their own.

[Dr Poskitt speaking to camera cuts then to classroom scenes].

So if you're making it authentic, and for a purpose, and a specific time frame, you create a lot more interest in the task.

[Student speaking to camera then cuts to classroom scenes].

Student: I prefer group work because I like to interact with people, more than just to be quiet.

Text on screen: Gloria Smith | Teacher – Hora Hora School

[Gloria speaking to camera cuts to classroom scenes].

I think it's about concentrating on things that they've written. It's to do with them and their interests, it's really neat to see them excited about doing something.

[Student with shaved hair speaking to the camera].

Student: Yeah, which was really quite fun. Well not quite fun, it was EPIC fun! [laughs].
